Director, Engineering & Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate a team of front-end engineers, back-end engineers, architects, and solutions engineers.

• Establish and maintain technical standards, code quality practices, and a positive engineering culture within the team.

• Intentionally enhance team capacity and capability by identifying skill gaps and creating development pathways.

• Implement structure and processes as needed.

• Create a supportive environment that empowers engineers to perform at their best.

• Provide a well-informed perspective on the impact of AI on software development.

• Advocate for the incorporation of AI-assisted development tools.

• Assist clients in understanding the implications of AI on custom development timelines.

• Ensure visibility across active projects to recognize risks early.

• Engage in pre-sale discussions to evaluate custom development needs.

• Help clients navigate the trade-offs between custom development and platform-native functionalities.

• Contribute to responses for RFPs and RFIs.

• Identify opportunities to create reusable frameworks, accelerators, and engineering assets.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years in software engineering or development roles.

• At least 3 years of experience leading engineering teams in a professional services, consulting, or agency setting.

• Proven experience in building and developing engineering teams in environments with maturing processes.

• A successful track record of managing delivery across multiple concurrent client projects without compromising quality.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions with client stakeholders at all levels.

• Experience in scoping custom development projects, drafting statements of work, and establishing realistic client expectations regarding timelines and complexity.

• Background in developing and collaborating with teams across different geographical regions, including the integration of nearshore and offshore teams.
