
Director, Development – Platform Extension & Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the team responsible for making Lumin the premier platform for development in the CFI sector.
• Establish strategy, mentor and expand a team of developers, and engage in hands-on work when necessary.
• Design SDK architecture, present to potential clients alongside the Sales team, or co-present the roadmap at the SDK advisory council.
• Collaborate with the extensibility product manager to define and implement a roadmap that positions Lumin’s developer platform as an industry leader.
• Oversee the technical strategy and quality of Lumin’s SDK, ensuring it is well-documented, extensible, and optimized for developer success.
• Construct Lumin’s developer platform from the foundation, including sandbox environments, quick-start tools, API explorer, and a DevEx portal.
• Advocate for developer experience metrics in collaboration with the PM, focusing on adoption rates, time-to-first-call, integration success, and developer NPS.
• Act as Lumin’s technical representative with external developers, clients, and vendor partners.
• Work in partnership across product, engineering, and marketing to incorporate the developer platform into Lumin’s overall go-to-market strategy.
• Promote a culture of developer empathy as the team develops solutions for developers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; MS degree or MBA preferred.
• Proven experience in building and delivering developer platforms, SDKs, or APIs, with over 8 years in software engineering or related leadership roles.
• Strong engineering background with practical experience in developing or managing APIs, SDKs, or developer platforms.
• Experience in building and leading technical teams in a player-coach model, capable of setting strategy and getting involved when needed.
• Data-driven mindset regarding developer experience, with proficiency in metrics such as time-to-first-call, developer NPS, integration success rates, and adoption curves.
• Profound understanding of what constitutes an excellent developer experience, with firm opinions on documentation, sandbox tools, onboarding, and community engagement.
• Exceptional communication skills, equally at ease in a whiteboard session with engineers, a roadmap discussion with clients, or a final sales meeting with a credit union CTO.
• Awareness of the AI developer tooling landscape and the capability to translate these insights into platform positioning and team practices.
• Naturally cross-functional and able to collaborate smoothly with product, data, SRE, security, and sales while maintaining momentum.
• Experience in fintech, banking technology, or platforms catering to financial institutions is advantageous but not mandatory; curiosity about the CFI space is essential.
