Director, Deal Team – Secondary Markets

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• As a senior leader on Tangible's Deal Team, you will collaborate closely with the founders to oversee the firm's most intricate and strategically vital transactions from start to finish, encompassing origination, structuring, commercial negotiation, and closing.

• You will take the lead on active deals, rather than merely supervising them.

• You will guide and mentor a team of Deal Managers and Analysts, establishing high standards for execution quality and influencing how Tangible enhances its deal-making capacity through its people, processes, and platforms.

• You will represent Tangible at a principal level with GPs, LPs, placement agents, and institutional counterparties in external engagements.

• Lead transactions across GP-led continuation vehicles, LP portfolio sales, direct secondaries, fund-of-funds liquidity, and NAV/preferred solutions from inception to completion.

• Manage the most commercially and legally challenging discussions with GPs, LPs, advisors, and legal counsel.

• Make critical decisions regarding pricing, structuring, portfolio construction, and deal trade-offs.

• Take responsibility for transactions from negotiation through to closure, collaborating with the Closing team on execution handoff.

• Utilize and broaden an existing network among GPs, LPs, secondaries advisors, placement agents, and institutional investors to generate proprietary deal flow.

• Forge and sustain senior-level relationships with secondaries advisors, fund managers, and institutional counterparties across different jurisdictions.

• Act as Tangible's representative in market discussions, conferences, and principal-to-principal interactions.

• Oversee the development and management of a team comprising both senior leaders and junior members.

• Establish execution benchmarks and mentor the next generation of deal talent.

• Collaborate with the founders on recruitment, succession planning, and team structuring as the deal function grows.

• Work alongside the founders on deal team strategy, capacity planning, and pricing philosophy.

• Partner with Product, BD, and Compliance teams to convert practical deal experiences into standardized workflows, buyer profiles, and platform capabilities.

• Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance efficiency over manual execution and assist in designing the operating model.

• Ensure compliance within FINRA, FCA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in private market transactions, with a significant portion in secondaries, private equity, fund-of-funds, or related private-market M&A advisory.

• Previous experience at the Vice President or Director level in a secondaries advisory firm, investment bank, financial sponsors/M&A team, or a similar organization.

• A proven track record of leading transactions from inception to completion, including managing the most complex commercial and legal negotiations.

• A robust external network encompassing GPs, LPs, advisors, and institutional counterparties.

• Experience in building, managing, and mentoring a deal team or sub-team.

• An entrepreneurial spirit and a genuine enthusiasm for working in a rapidly growing, tech-driven environment where processes and infrastructure are still being developed.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with sophisticated external parties and internal stakeholders.
