This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Offer technical and architectural guidance within the data engineering team.

• Create and steer the long-term vision for enterprise data platforms and architecture.

• Develop and execute a data platform strategy encompassing big data, real-time processing, operational transactions, and governance domains.

• Supervise the architecture, design, and development of scalable data platforms that enable self-service applications and drive AI success.

• Ensure successful production operations, implement FinOps practices, and optimize financial outcomes through forecasting, runtime analysis, and showback mechanisms.

• Communicate data technologies, strategies, roadmaps, and progress updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.

• Track industry trends and transform emerging technologies into actionable initiatives.

• Cultivate a robust engineering organization and promote engineering discipline through leadership and mentorship.

• Collaborate with data and engineering teams on technology and architectural strategies and decisions.

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and operational success of critical systems.

• Establish frameworks for technology and architectural decision-making.

• Develop expertise in business processes to align technology with business objectives.

• Partner with engineering leadership to implement the company's technical and business strategies.

• Conduct impact assessments across various applications and systems.

• Perform technical due diligence and architectural evaluations of third-party technologies and solutions.

• Experiment, test concepts, validate assumptions, and propose solutions.

• Document standards, best practices, and engineering artifacts.

• Troubleshoot critical production issues and implement solutions across applications and systems.

• Promote continuous learning and process enhancement.

• Engage in hiring processes and mentor team members.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience or a comparable level of expertise.

• Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing the technical direction of data platforms, technology, and architecture.

• Expert knowledge of software engineering best practices and experience in building modern data platforms, products, and solutions, particularly those that facilitate AI success.

• Comprehensive understanding and practical experience with modern data technology end-to-end, including source systems, data integration, data acquisition, data ingestion, data transformation, data aggregation, data governance, business intelligence, data warehouses, data lakes, NoSQL, object storage, streaming, and related technologies.

• Significant experience in establishing and promoting software engineering best practices.

• Strong grasp of AI, distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures.

• Proven track record of building strong engineering teams and effectively attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining talent.

• Demonstrated success in constructing mission-critical enterprise-class data platforms that generate business impact.

• Ability to collaborate with business partners and cross-functional team members, while also coaching and mentoring seasoned team members.

• Extensive experience in developing big-data real-time production systems that drive business success.

• Proficient in communicating and articulating technology topics in a business context with timely and clear communication.

• Familiarity with delivery methodologies such as Agile.

• Required degrees must have been obtained from institutions accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or an equivalent body.

• Experience in the financial services or FinTech industry is preferred.
