📋 Description

• Act as the primary communications advisor responsible for strategic communications within Amgen's Development organization and pipeline portfolio.

• Collaborate closely with senior leadership in Development to design and implement communications strategies that enhance understanding of Amgen's Development organization, clinical pipeline, and leadership in drug development.

• Integrate scientific knowledge, strategic communications, and effective storytelling to foster trust in Amgen's scientific innovations and clinical pipeline while increasing executive visibility, promoting scientific thought leadership, and bolstering the enterprise's reputation.

• Direct the communications strategy for Amgen's Development organization and pipeline portfolio by creating cohesive plans that enhance comprehension of scientific innovation, clinical advancements, and the company's position in drug development.

• Act as a reliable communications advisor to the Development Senior Leadership Team, offering strategic guidance on executive visibility, organizational communications, business priorities, change initiatives, and issue management.

• Shape communications regarding the enterprise pipeline throughout the clinical development lifecycle by crafting compelling scientific narratives that instill confidence in Amgen's pipeline and support significant development, regulatory, and corporate milestones.

• Advocate for the Development narrative by simplifying complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging communications that highlight Amgen's innovations, clinical leadership, and long-term benefits for patients across various therapeutic areas.

• Collaborate with Corporate Affairs and the broader enterprise, including Research, Global Medical, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, Investor Relations, and Product and Portfolio Communications to ensure consistent messaging, coordinated milestone communications, and smooth transitions from development to commercialization.

• Lead and cultivate a high-performing team while overseeing agency partners and external resources to achieve measurable communication outcomes, encourage innovation, and continually enhance strategic effectiveness.


⛳️ Requirements

• Doctorate degree with 4 years of experience in communications or public relations, OR a Master's degree with 7 years of experience, OR a Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience in the same fields.

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.

• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or a comparable scientific sector, with a solid grasp of drug development and the clinical development lifecycle.

• Proven experience in leading strategic communications for intricate scientific, regulatory, or business initiatives within a matrixed organization.

• Established success as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives, including the development of executive communications and thought leadership strategies.

• Strong comprehension of scientific communications, with the ability to convert complex scientific information into engaging narratives for varied internal and external audiences.

• Experience in designing and implementing communications strategies that support pipeline milestones, scientific advancements, and organizational priorities.

• Outstanding writing, storytelling, presentation, and executive communication abilities.

• Proven capability to influence senior leaders, manage ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and juggle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

• Strong business acumen with the ability to align communication strategies with organizational and enterprise goals.

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate trusted partnerships and collaborate effectively across Development, Research, Medical, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, and other cross-functional teams.

• Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing communications professionals while managing agency partners and external vendors to achieve measurable business impact.
