Director – Corporate Accounting, Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the senior accounting leader for the Company, directly reporting to the CFO.

• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, close reporting packages, and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP.

• Manage the general ledger, chart of accounts, intercompany transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, and accounting policies.

• Investigate complex accounting issues and draft technical accounting memoranda and position papers.

• Stay updated on accounting standards and regulatory changes, leading the implementation of necessary adjustments.

• Design, implement, document, and supervise scalable internal controls.

• Direct external audits for financial statements and employee benefit plans, while addressing any findings.

• Coordinate tax compliance and planning at federal, state, and local levels with external advisors.

• Supervise employee payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, accounting, reconciliations, and controls.

• Develop accounting policies, closing requirements, reconciliation standards, and internal controls for Financial Operations.

• Review key reconciliations from subledgers to the general ledger, including revenue cutoff and recognition, reserves, write-offs, AP accruals, driver-pay liabilities, and their impacts on financial statements.

• Guide, mentor, and cultivate the Manager, Accounting, and the wider accounting team.

• Lead the evaluation, selection, design, implementation, and stabilization of a new ERP platform.

• Manage the governance of the accounting system, including configuration, financial data integrity, user access, interfaces, and master data.

• Standardize and automate closing, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance processes.

• Collaborate with the CFO and FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, board reporting, lender reporting, and strategic initiatives.

• Provide accounting support for quality-of-earnings reviews, financing activities, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, separations, and transaction diligence.

• Assist with data rooms, diligence requests, purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, separation activities, and post-transaction necessities.

• Lead or assist with special projects as assigned by the CFO.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is mandatory.

• An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is essential.

• At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position that includes significant responsibility for the close and financial reporting processes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP is required.

• Familiarity with monthly closing processes and GAAP-compliant financial statements is necessary.

• Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting, consolidations, intercompany activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting controls.

• Ability to lead external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers, and other professional partners.

• Strong internal-control judgment, including process design, segregation of duties, access controls, documentation, and remediation.

• Experience in supporting quality-of-earnings reviews, transaction diligence, financing requests, data rooms, or other deadline-sensitive external evaluations.

• Solid understanding of ERP and financial systems.

• Excellent communication skills, executive presence, and business acumen are required.

• Public accounting experience is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with Great Plains or a similar platform is preferred.

• Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-entity, or similarly fast-paced setting is preferred.

• Experience involving acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, financing transactions, or related diligence is strongly preferred.

• Ability to perform job functions in a standard office environment and occasionally lift or move office materials weighing up to 15 pounds.

• Some travel may be necessary.
