This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Act as the primary owner of the finance function for Tempo’s Austrian entity.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, fixed assets and depreciation, accruals, prepaids, inventory, and work in progress (WIP).
• Close monthly in accordance with the group calendar, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide the close package.
• Maintain multi-currency accounting, foreign exchange revaluation, and intercompany balances with the US parent and Spanish holding entity.
• Prepare the Jahresabschluss under UGB in collaboration with the Steuerberater and reconcile to US GAAP for group consolidation.
• Deliver monthly management reports by cost center and project.
• Assist the group audit with PBC schedules, sample support, and necessary documentation.
• Process monthly payroll with the external provider, review payroll registers, and record payroll journals.
• Manage ÖGK and ELDA filings, Lohnsteuer, DB, DZ, and Kommunalsteuer.
• Maintain employee records, leave accruals, expense reimbursements, Taggeld, and Nächtigungsgeld.
• Allocate personnel costs across projects, work packages, and cost centers.
• Address cross-border employment issues, including A1 certificates and posted-worker filings.
• File UVA, Zusammenfassende Meldung, and Intrastat through FinanzOnline.
• Implement reverse-charge and intra-community treatment for cross-border purchases.
• Coordinate Körperschaftsteuer returns and advance payments.
• Maintain intercompany and transfer pricing documentation.
• Prepare the annual Forschungsprämie claim along with supporting cost documentation.
• Manage the statutory filing calendar.
• Execute procure-to-pay processes in NetSuite, including requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, and three-way matching.
• Review Austrian requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor invoices.
• Maintain vendor master data and conduct UID validation, bank verification, tax-status checks, and sanctions screening.
• Oversee payment runs, supplier terms, Austrian cash requirements, and group treasury forecasting.
• Monitor committed and actual expenditures against budgets and grant work packages.
• Manage financial administration for EU and national grant-funded projects, including Horizon Europe.
• Track grant expenses by work package and eligible cost categories.
• Prepare periodic cost claims and financial statements in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
• Manage certificates on the financial statements when specific thresholds are met.
• Serve as the financial liaison for funding bodies and consortium partners, including FFG and aws.
• Keep grant documentation ready for audits and support grant audits.
• Operate NetSuite as the multi-subsidiary, multi-currency, multi-book system of record.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance & Accounting to build, document, and automate Austrian finance processes.
• Report to the Director of Finance & Accounting in the United States and liaise with the external Steuerberater and payroll provider.
• Bilanzbuchhalter under the BiBuG, or equivalent qualification in accounting, finance, or controlling (HAK/HLW, FH, university).
• At least five years of full-cycle accounting experience in Austria, including complete responsibility for a legal entity’s books and the Jahresabschluss under UGB.
• Proficient knowledge of Austrian payroll and payroll tax.
• Practical understanding of Austrian and EU VAT, including intra-community supplies, acquisitions, and reverse charge.
• Professional fluency in both German and English.
• Advanced Excel skills; adept with ERP systems rather than relying on spreadsheets.
• Authorization to work in Austria.
• Preferred: Experience with EU grant financial reporting, including periodic cost claims and grant audits.
• Preferred: Familiarity with US GAAP and reporting to a US parent company.
• Preferred: Background in manufacturing or capital equipment environments, including inventory, work orders, and WIP.
• Preferred: Personalverrechner certification.
• Preferred: Experience in startup or scale-up environments, ideally in hardware.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment, test fixtures, or hardware assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs; heavier items should be handled with mechanical assistance or team lift.
• Capability to wear and work effectively in necessary personal protective equipment.
• Understanding of lab and shop safety protocols.
