Business Controller – Research & Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive business controlling for the R&D division.

• Serve as the main finance liaison and strategic advisor for the leadership in Software Engineering and Product Management.

• Create and execute operational KPIs in collaboration with engineering and product stakeholders, focusing on development velocity, resource utilization, and product profitability.

• Oversee the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts for R&D.

• Distribute resources across products, features, and technical debt initiatives.

• Evaluate R&D investments through cost-benefit analyses of new product development, feature enhancements, and technology infrastructure.

• Construct financial models for capitalizing software development costs in accordance with accounting standards.

• Ensure precise tracking of project costs.

• Lead monthly performance review meetings with engineering and product leaders.

• Provide variance analyses and actionable insights.

• Advocate for continuous improvement in R&D financial planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of practical controlling experience with a focus on R&D.

• Experience in SaaS is advantageous.

• Thorough understanding of R&D financial management, including software capitalization regulations, project accounting, and technology cost structures.

• Demonstrated success as a finance business partner within technical environments.

• Proficient in communicating effectively with engineering and product teams.

• Strong financial modeling and data analysis capabilities.

• Excellent proficiency in Excel and BI tools such as Power BI or Qlik.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Certifications like CMA, CPA, or CIMA are beneficial.

• Proficient in the English language.

• Willingness to travel frequently for collaboration across various locations.
