Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily financial operations using QuickBooks or Xero, encompassing bookkeeping, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bill processing.

• Facilitate the automation of accounts payable and billing processes.

• Manage payroll from start to finish within Ceridian Dayforce for both Canadian and US entities.

• Supervise month-end closing and ensure financials are accurate and ready for audits.

• Handle necessary filings, audit documentation, and onboarding of finance-side clients.

• Reconstruct and maintain the financial model with input and oversight from advisors.

• Collaborate with the fractional CFO for higher-level reporting and financial planning.

• Lead special finance and operations projects as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in accounting.

• CPA, CA is highly preferred.

• Currently working as a Senior Manager of Accounting, Assistant Controller, or a similar role, ready to advance to a Controller position.

• Ability to independently manage payroll from beginning to end within Ceridian Dayforce, including new hires, terminations, deductions, benefits, off-cycle runs, employer taxes, and remittances, without a learning curve on the platform.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Intelligent, quick, and inquisitive; capable of resolving issues without a guideline.

• Proficient with contemporary accounting and automation tools, such as QuickBooks/Xero and Excel/Google Sheets.

• Quick to learn new software.

• Comfortable working autonomously in an individual contributor role.

• Experience in a services or agency business is advantageous.

• Cross-border experience with Canada and the US is a plus.
