📋 Description

• Lead the development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the American Cancer Society’s enterprise compliance and ethics program.

• Guide the strategic direction, governance framework, and operational implementation of compliance initiatives.

• Supervise compliance frameworks, risk assessments, policy governance, training, investigations, and monitoring efforts.

• Maintain and enforce compliance policies and procedures effectively.

• Collaborate with compliance risk owners and subject matter experts throughout the organization.

• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and provide recommendations on corrective action plans and mitigation strategies.

• Establish and utilize a compliance council.

• Manage the ethics reporting program, hotline operations, and case management processes.

• Direct inquiries into ethical issues and ensure outcomes are fair, confidential, timely, and well-documented.

• Oversee the lifecycle of enterprise compliance and ethics-related policies while maintaining a centralized policy repository.

• Design and deliver compliance and ethics training for staff, volunteers, leadership, and board members.

• Develop annual compliance and ethics awareness campaigns and educational materials.

• Offer guidance on ethical dilemmas and compliance-related matters.

• Supervise the confidential hotline and other reporting mechanisms.

• Manage and improve the internal investigations program.

• Coordinate responses to external government inquiries.

• Design and manage compliance data collection, reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and metrics.

• Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership.

• Collaborate with Legal, Risk Management, HR, Finance, IT, and Internal Audit teams.

• Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations.

• Represent compliance in enterprise initiatives, including digital transformation and data governance.

• Perform other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree is required.

• Professional compliance certification is highly preferred (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional – CCEP).

• A minimum of 6–10 years of experience in ethics and compliance, or a blend of compliance and legal experience.

• Experience in non-profit or similar mission-driven organizations is preferred.

• Knowledge of relevant compliance regulations and standards, including compliance frameworks.

• Familiarity with non-profit laws and regulations, fundraising laws, grant management, federal and state tax laws, privacy and data security laws, and financial reporting is preferred.

• Experience in developing, implementing, and continuously improving compliance programs, policies, and procedures.

• Proficiency in creating and conducting effective training sessions.

• Experience in fostering a compliance culture and investigating ethical breaches.

• Ability to analyze various data sets, identify and summarize trends, and generate actionable insights.

• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GRC platforms, data tools, and document repositories.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

• Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to work with minimal supervision.

• A high level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.

• Flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively in team environments.

• Periodic travel is required, approximately 5–15% per year.
