Director, Commissioning – Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee all elements of the commissioning process, which includes functional performance testing, system balancing, and operational testing.

• Create and execute comprehensive commissioning strategies that align with organizational objectives and project requirements.

• Set commissioning standards and best practices throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders during the commissioning process.

• Monitor commissioning activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

• Develop subordinate project managers and guide their growth through performance evaluations, mentoring, formal training, and exposure to a range of work experiences.

• Work alongside general superintendents and the peer Director of Field Operations Commissioning to select general superintendents and site teams.

• Manage wage reviews, work assignments, bonus evaluations, internal promotions, and related activities.

• Assist the Vice President in staying informed about market conditions, including insights on customers, competitors, subcontractors, commodities, construction processes and methods, and contracting strategies.

• Oversee commissioning budgets and the allocation of resources.

• Develop detailed commissioning plans and schedules for each project.

• Pursue personal development opportunities, including obtaining state licensing certifications.

• Communicate commissioning progress and findings to key decision-makers and escalate significant issues to executive leadership.

• Implement quality control measures throughout the commissioning process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A four-year degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of five years of directly relevant experience in utility-scale natural gas power generation, heavy industrial, or EPC field execution.

• Strong understanding of construction engineering and design principles.

• Familiarity with electrical construction and power delivery.

• Conceptual skills with the ability to create comprehensive work plans and management schedules.

• Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques.

• Expertise in relevant industry standards and regulations.

• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.

• Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to organize, utilize, and motivate team members swiftly in response to changes in the construction schedule.

• Required conflict management skills.

• Ability to work strategically within an approved budget, conserve resources, and contribute to profits and revenue.

• Excellent organizational, supervisory, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, Primavera, and CTC net.

• A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.

• Extensive travel is necessary.

• Primary experience with reciprocating engine power plants, modular/skidded aeroderivative turbine installations, modular simple-cycle gas plants, and fuel cell power generation systems, along with associated balance-of-plant, fuel gas systems, and interconnection scopes.

• Experience in combined-cycle gas power generation, larger-frame simple-cycle power generation, midstream oil and gas infrastructure, and heavy industrial construction.

• PMP Certification.
