Director, Business Development – Oncology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Initiate, coordinate, and formulate strategic plans and sales strategies within designated territories or accounts.

• Achieve annual sales targets and objectives.

• Identify new business sales prospects for TFS and collaborate with the internal TFS team to address inquiries, such as Requests for Information (RFI) or Requests for Proposal (RFP).

• Facilitate the readiness of the TFS team for client meetings, including General Capabilities Meetings or Bid Defense Meetings (BDM).

• Oversee and track budget or contract negotiations after the award of work to TFS in specific territories or accounts.

• Establish and maintain regular communication and a strong rapport with both prospective and current clients.

• Organize and prepare materials for sponsor presentations.

• Gather essential information for proposal preparation.

• Comprehend the RFI/RFP process and provide thorough input and leadership during the RFI response and proposal generation for each initiated opportunity.

• Manage costs, such as expenses, appropriately and submit claims promptly.

• Engage positively with TFS operations personnel, monitoring study statuses for projects with sponsors, and assist in coordinating change orders when notified of scope changes by operations.

• Monitor and evaluate competitor CRO activities.

• Plan and attend major industry events and tradeshows as budgeted and needed.

• Develop account strategies and implementation plans, expanding through accounts.

• Identify new markets and explore new business opportunities, pinpointing potential sales points within designated territories or accounts.

• Oversee and manage all initiatives aimed at developing and retaining clients.

• Collect, compile, analyze, and present data related to business development activities.

• Document all activities and client interactions in the Customer Relationship Management system (salesforce.com).

• Manage and/or mentor junior members of the business development team when appropriate.

• Provide insights and actively support the Head of Business Development/Vice President/EVP of Business Development in their role.

• Foster open and transparent communication within the business development department and the broader TFS organization.

• Generate reports as required for senior management and exemplify leadership in best reporting practices.

• Conduct all activities in adherence to departmental SOPs and other quality documents (e.g., Job Specifications).

• Assist the Heads of Business Units and Business Lines with the management of the P&L for the Site Management functional service line to facilitate current and new business in any assigned country.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant industry experience.

• At least seven (7) years of experience in clinical research and/or sales.

• Significant sales experience exceeding 5 years, accompanied by strong negotiation and analytical skills.

• Exceptional communication skills and team leadership abilities, enabling the influence and alignment of various stakeholders to meet customer needs.

• Outstanding organizational, planning, and multitasking skills, alongside a strong entrepreneurial, results-oriented, and customer-focused mindset.

• Comprehensive knowledge of TFS / CRO business.

• Proficient in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.

• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.

• Awareness of trends and government policies and regulations in the clinical trials sector of TFS Group countries.

• Ability to work independently and efficiently.

• Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.

• Strong and effective presentation skills; capable of convincingly presenting service features and benefits to clients.

• Willingness to travel extensively within the sales territory and attend company meetings as required, in accordance with business development strategies.
