This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and execution of strategies aimed at expediting New York’s transition to clean energy within the electric and transportation sectors.

• Achieve both short-term and long-term policy goals through legislative, administrative, and regulatory initiatives.

• Collaborate with member companies to formulate policy positions and build consensus around crucial issues.

• Manage relationships with lobbyists and consultants, ensuring their involvement in legislative affairs and communication strategies.

• Facilitate member engagement with decision-makers through activities such as lobby days, educational sessions with legislators and candidates, media outreach, and involvement in legislative, regulatory, and administrative processes.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with coalition partners, allies, and essential legislative and administrative personnel.

• Coordinate advocacy initiatives with coalition allies to support clean energy objectives.

• Produce reports, presentations, fact sheets, and other written and visual materials for advocacy purposes.

• Write comments and testimony, and deliver verbal presentations.

• Collaborate with the communications team to pinpoint opportunities for earned media coverage.

• Draft press releases, engage in media interviews, compose blog posts, participate in webinars, and promote advanced energy initiatives.

• Travel up to 30% for advocacy days, stakeholder meetings, outreach efforts, and other organizational activities.

• Report directly to the Northeast Managing Director.

• Support the Managing Director in developing strategies, programs, and initiatives that advance advanced energy markets in the Northeast.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, engineering, or arts and sciences is preferred, or equivalent experience.

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.

• 7–15 years of professional experience in legislative policy development, campaign management, or organizing within the energy or transportation sectors.

• Experience collaborating with business leaders is beneficial.

• A keen interest in energy and transportation topics.

• A solid understanding of the significance of policy advocacy in furthering an organizational agenda.

• An entrepreneurial mindset and adaptable attitude.

• Capability to work independently and juggle multiple projects in a dynamic setting.

• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in independently drafting clear, comprehensive, and persuasive written documents tailored for specific audiences.

• Intellectual curiosity, an inquisitive disposition, and excellent listening and problem-solving capabilities.

• A strong work ethic, demonstrated initiative, and a commitment to achieving objectives.

• Ability to engage members, customers, and funders effectively, promoting Advanced Energy United and its value proposition.

• A sense of humor and a willingness to continue learning are essential.

• Must be open to travel.

• U.S. residency is required.

• Must live in or around Albany, NY.
