Director – Ancillary Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership and strategic direction across affiliated hospitals

• Establish operational standards, performance expectations, policies, and best practices throughout the system

• Collaborate with hospital executives and department leaders to enhance quality, safety, service, productivity, turnaround times, staffing efficiency, and financial outcomes

• Develop and track key performance indicators across ancillary services

• Ensure regulatory readiness and compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, CLIA standards, and imaging and radiation safety protocols

• Work alongside local service line leaders and qualified specialty professionals on clinical and technical decision-making

• Drive standardization initiatives to boost reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness

• Assess staffing models, skill mix, productivity standards, on-call coverage, recruitment challenges, and workforce development needs

• Collaborate on capital planning, equipment replacement, service contracts, vendor performance, and technology optimization

• Aid in the evaluation and implementation of information systems, interfaces, workflow technology, and digital solutions

• Review vendor performance, equipment maintenance, and outsourced or contracted services

• Lead or participate in performance improvement initiatives focused on outcomes, patient throughput, result availability, and communication of critical findings

• Foster collaboration among ancillary services and other clinical departments to enhance patient flow and care coordination

• Provide coaching and operational support to facility ancillary leaders, including onboarding, succession planning, and team development

• Assist with integration, due diligence, operational assessment, and standardization for newly acquired or transitioning facilities

• Travel to affiliated hospitals and facilities to evaluate operations, support leaders, validate improvement plans, and assess performance

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Tennessee, Texas, or Wyoming

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, clinical laboratory science, radiologic sciences, nursing, or a related healthcare field

• Over 7 years of progressive experience in the healthcare sector

• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in hospital operations, ancillary services, diagnostic services, or a related multi-department clinical setting

• Proven ability to lead across various clinical, technical, diagnostic, or therapeutic disciplines

• Track record of enhancing operational performance, quality, regulatory readiness, staffing/productivity, financial performance, and standardization across complex healthcare services

• Solid understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements impacting hospital ancillary services

• Willingness to travel extensively, up to 50%, across hospital and corporate locations

• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, financial, and change management capabilities

• Proven ability to influence and lead through collaboration in a matrixed, multi-facility environment

• Competence in interpreting operational and quality data, identifying variations, establishing priorities, and driving measurable improvements

• Ability to lead specialized departments by collaborating with appropriately credentialed technical and clinical subject-matter experts

• No single clinical license is required if educational and leadership experience criteria are otherwise satisfied
