
DFM Engineer Intern – Mechanical Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
• Evaluate and enhance mechanical designs with an emphasis on manufacturability
• Utilize DFM/DFA principles to optimize part design, cost-effectiveness, and quality
• Aid in refining designs in accordance with manufacturing limitations and feedback
• Create precise, production-ready engineering documentation
• Support fundamental simulations or engineering assessments using ANSYS or comparable tools
• Assist with tolerance analysis, material selection, and design assumptions
• Help in identifying design risks and proposing enhancements
• Conduct research and assess manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, etc.)
• Assist in making decisions regarding materials, finishes, and processes
• Support supplier and process-related research as needed
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers on real client challenges
• Engage in virtual meetings with clients based in the U.S. and internal teams
• Clearly communicate design intent, modifications, and assumptions in a remote environment
• Contribute to the enhancement of internal engineering workflows and standards
• Currently pursuing or recently earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Solid understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes
• Basic knowledge of DFM concepts and real-world production limitations
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail
• Proficient in written and spoken English for effective professional communication
• Personal computer capable of operating engineering software
• Required CAD/simulation software must be installed
• Reliable internet access
• Practical experience with live client engineering projects
• Real-world exposure to DFM and production-oriented design
• Insight into how engineering choices affect cost, quality, and timelines
• Collaboration with international clients and teams
• A strong foundation for a career in manufacturing-oriented engineering
