This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Collaborate with various teams to streamline and enhance DevOps tools and services.
• Address challenges to promote simplicity in architecture and operations.
• Execute cloud infrastructure and automated deployment tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop libraries, modules, and packages tailored for infrastructure engineers.
• Create cloud infrastructure to support applications.
• Enhance the developer experience for engineering teams.
• Assist with CI/CD processes to expedite the delivery of high-quality software.
• Integrate tools to meet quality benchmarks, address security vulnerabilities, and perform static analysis.
• Construct application testing and deployment pipelines utilizing Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab CI, and similar tools.
• Collaborate with government partners and application teams to fulfill security, SLA, and performance standards.
• Engage in planning discussions and participate in DevOps support/on-call rotations.
• Bachelor's degree and over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, or a comparable blend of education and experience.
• Practical production experience with AWS as the main cloud provider.
• Proficient in Kubernetes, including EKS or equivalents, for deploying, troubleshooting, and managing containerized workloads.
• Skilled in Terraform or a similar infrastructure-as-code tool.
• Experience in constructing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or analogous systems.
• Comfortable working within a Linux environment, including shell scripting, systemd, networking fundamentals, and package management.
• Knowledgeable in containerization, virtualization, networking, and load balancing/reverse proxy techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of collaborating with fellow engineers to troubleshoot issues.
• Able to articulate technical decisions and trade-offs regarding complex infrastructure.
• Contribute significantly to planning discussions.
• Willingness to participate in business-hours DevOps support rotation and take on on-call responsibilities beyond business hours.
• U.S. citizenship or valid legal authorization to work and reside in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Capable of successfully completing and maintaining any required government background investigation.
• Preferred: experience with Terragrunt, Argo CD/Argo Workflows, HAProxy/OpenResty or similar tools, Go/Bash/Python, GitHub Actions reusable workflows/composite actions/self-hosted runners, SAST/DAST and dependency scanning, federal IT compliance frameworks, internal developer platforms, and observability stacks.
