This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and take ownership of the foundation's fundraising strategy encompassing grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual contributions.
• Identify, nurture, and maintain relationships with qualified prospects, modifying solicitation strategies as necessary.
• Convert the Foundation's mission, values, and strategic plans into compelling philanthropic narratives for potential donors.
• Create and oversee corporate sponsorship programs and partnership offerings for flagship conferences, the annual State of the Open Home, and global community gatherings.
• Conduct research, write, and manage grant applications along with funder reporting.
• Keep donors updated on how their contributions support the mission.
• Establish and manage fundraising systems, including donor/CRM tracking, pipelines, reporting, and donation platforms.
• Collaborate with leadership and project communities to ensure fundraising efforts align with the foundation's roadmap and core values.
• Engage external partners and advisors as necessary, including those from international funding sources.
• Report to the Marketing Lead.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising or development.
• Proven history of securing substantial gifts, grants, or corporate sponsorships.
• Experience in leading a fundraising function or managing significant fundraising initiatives from inception to completion.
• Background in the technology sector.
• Experience in cultivating and closing deals with corporate sponsors and/or major donors.
• Strong skills in grant writing and funder reporting.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel for in-person meetings with potential donors.
• Professional proficiency in English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must currently reside and be eligible to work in the United States.
• A passion for smart homes and automation.
• Experience as a Home Assistant user.
• Experience in fundraising for open-source, technology, or privacy-focused organizations.
• An existing network of relevant funders, sponsors, or contacts in technology philanthropy.
• Familiarity with grant programs related to open source and public-interest technology.
• Five weeks (twenty-five days) of paid time off.
• Fourteen days of paid sick leave if your country/laws categorize them as unpaid.
• Six weeks of paid and six weeks of unpaid parental leave to be utilized within the first year following the birth of a child.
• Budget allocated for work hardware; after three years, equipment may be retained for personal use.
• 50% contribution towards home workspace internet connection fees.
• One day every two weeks designated for personal projects.
• Work hours may be allocated for maintaining Home Assistant-related side projects.
