Development Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee fundraising initiatives throughout the organization.

• Provide guidance and leadership to RLF’s development team.

• Assist RLF’s primary fundraisers in enhancing partnerships.

• Maintain organizational awareness of key donors and potential prospects.

• Directly manage the development team.

• Create internal systems, policies, and processes to facilitate effective philanthropy.

• Establish and manage the technological framework to enhance donor engagement.

• Prepare analyses and dashboards related to fundraising activities.

• Develop systems and procedures for coordinating development efforts.

• Enhance RLF’s fundraising effectiveness with existing donors.

• Conduct research and assess new potential funding sources.

• Exemplify effective development strategies and practices.

• Collaborate with colleagues to gain insights into RLF’s operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising.

• Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies for diverse donor groups.

• Experience in supporting a president, executive leadership team, and program staff.

• Proficiency in designing fundraising operations, systems, and teams.

• Experience utilizing contemporary data management practices and technology.

• Prior experience in climate and environmental organizations.

• Understanding of fundraising principles, ethics, compliance, and best practices.

• Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

• Adaptability in working style with a diverse range of personality types.
