Dev Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Deliver and maintain IT applications and services that support Mashreq’s information technology strategy.

• Collaborate in agile squads to produce short-cycle, comprehensive IT products.

• Integrate applications with necessary systems and services.

• Provide clean and user-friendly APIs for frontend systems.

• Assume responsibility for the functionality, performance, and scalability of applications.

• Participate in sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives, and demos.

• Consult with the team regarding both functional and non-functional requirements.

• Develop IT products, conduct unit testing, and review the work of colleagues.

• Design, build, test, and automate functional, performance, resilience, and security tests.

• Manage the lifecycle of IT products, including decommissioning as necessary.

• Enhance continuous delivery processes.

• Address incidents and problems related to managed IT products and stacks.

• Set up IT environments, deploy products to infrastructure, and implement changes.

• Establish monitoring for IT product usage.

• Analyze and design applications, code them, and integrate packages.

• Engage in grooming and planning sessions to clarify acceptance criteria.

• Collaborate with designers, SMEs, and the Product Owner while developing user stories.

• Operate within an Agile/Scrum environment, fulfill sprint commitments, and contribute to the agile process.

• Maintain traceability of testing activities.

• Take ownership of critical decisions that align with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a backend developer using popular languages and frameworks (Java Spring Boot, NodeJS, etc.), with functional programming experience in Scala.

• In-depth knowledge of Object-Oriented programming and engineering principles, such as SOLID.

• Extensive experience in writing and utilizing autonomous service-oriented RESTful APIs, along with performance tuning for large-scale applications.

• Familiarity with database systems and both SQL and NoSQL storage solutions (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Couchbase).

• Experience integrating with JavaScript frameworks like React or AngularJS is a bonus.

• Capability to write effective unit, integration, and API tests.

• Knowledge of immutable infrastructure, infrastructure automation, and provisioning tools is an asset.

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.

• Prior experience as a Developer on a cross-functional agile team is preferred.

• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts and align organizational decisions.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to process complex information clearly and concisely.

• Ability to manage challenges and multitask in a high-pressure, demanding environment.

• Willingness to learn new ideas beyond current expertise.
