This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the availability model of record for each generation campus encompassing generation, electrical distribution, fuel supply, and cooling.

• Distribute committed SLA targets through various systems, including availability budgets, redundancy requirements, MTTR assumptions, sparing, and maintenance strategies.

• Utilize Monte Carlo simulation or closed-form analytical models as necessary and justify the chosen methodology.

• Detect common-mode and dependent failures, such as shared fuel, cooling, controls, and site-wide events.

• Present single-path and contracted-capacity availability perspectives along with sensitivity analysis.

• Manage the FMEA/FMECA program for engines, generators, BESS, switchgear, transformers, fuel gas systems, and cooling infrastructure.

• Gather failure-rate and repair data from IEEE 493, OREDA, OEM sources, and field data.

• Influence redundancy configuration, address single-point-of-failure issues, and determine equipment selection, testability, and maintainability criteria.

• Incorporate reliability analysis into design reviews, HAZOPs, and vendor evaluations.

• Oversee the reliability core of Nscale’s digital twin, focusing on model architecture, data structures, and analytical techniques.

• Define operational data requirements for event capture, failure coding, downtime attribution, and run-hour tracking.

• Collaborate with software and data teams to develop instrumented, queryable, automatable, and auditable RAM tools.

• Create feedback loops between actual availability measurements and model predictions, including recalibration and reliability growth tracking.

• Assist in commissioning and startup by designing burn-in and reliability-run processes, tracking failures, and establishing model-based acceptance criteria.

• Lead or assist in root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions into designs, models, and standards.

• Formulate reliability engineering standards, methodologies, and reference models.

• Direct RAM and reliability consultants, challenging their methodologies and deliverables.

• Coordinate with teams in reliability, operations, commissioning, electrical, controls, mechanical, and pipeline engineering.

• Develop internal reliability engineering capabilities and communicate analysis, confidence, sensitivity, and risk to leadership and executives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of reliability engineering experience in power generation, process, or mission-critical facilities, with significant responsibility in RAM analysis for large, redundant systems.

• Proficient in RAM modeling using discrete-event simulation (BlockSim, Raptor, or equivalent) and closed-form analytical approaches.

• Demonstrated leadership in FMEA/FMECA for major rotating, electrical, or process equipment.

• Familiarity with IEEE 493, OREDA, IEEE 3006 series, or similar failure data sources and an understanding of their limitations.

• Experience in allocating availability targets based on commercial commitments to systems and defending analyses to executives, customers, or insurers.

• Knowledge of common-mode and dependent failure mechanisms.

• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages, coupled with reliability data structuring for automation.

• Experience in integrating reliability analysis into real-time design processes for major capital projects.

• Capability to manage a scope with minimal oversight.

• Background in digital twin, telemetry-driven reliability, or operational availability measurement programs is a significant advantage.

• CRE certification or a similar qualification is preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.

• PE license or CRE is desirable.

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites and vendor facilities, typically 15–25% and higher during commissioning campaigns.

🏝️ Benefits

• Highly competitive US compensation package, including bonus and equity eligibility.

• Performance reviews conducted every 12 months.

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

• 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.

• Generous paid time off (PTO) along with US federal holidays.

• Flexible work environment and autonomy.

• Flexible paid time off options.

• Parental leave benefits.

• Participation in retirement plans.

• A career-defining opportunity as an early member of a rapidly growing AI infrastructure company.
