This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Lead teams for due diligence and design in data centers focusing on colocation and hyper-scale projects.
• Manage projects from site due diligence and campus planning to conceptual, schematic, and detailed design, as well as construction documents and administration.
• Coordinate various disciplines including architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, fire protection, ICT, and BMS/EPMS.
• Create and implement multi-site project and program management plans.
• Conduct and participate in meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
• Proactively oversee and communicate project changes within AECOM and to clients.
• Identify issues early on and devise innovative solutions.
• Provide project updates and address unresolved issues with stakeholders.
• Prepare technical and financial proposals for new and modification data center design projects.
• Build and maintain trusting relationships with client stakeholders and buyers.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center initiatives.
• Engage in hands-on, client-facing tasks with opportunities for career advancement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, along with ten (10) years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience in managing the design of colocation and hyper-scale data centers.
• Background in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to thrive in dynamic, time-sensitive environments with minimal supervision.
• Skills in team leadership.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation capabilities.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License.
• Preferred: 12 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management.
• Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Certification.
• Preferred: Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional.
• Preferred: Active or recent involvement in a data center and mission-critical trade organization.
• Preferred: 12 years of experience in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management and engineering.
