In this position, you will serve as the technical backbone of their groundworks projects — designing robust CFA piling, hand piling, retention systems, shoring, excavation, and demolition solutions, while also actively engaging in the estimating process by preparing detailed cost assessments and client-ready proposals. This is a combined design-and-commercial role tailored for a proactive engineer eager to manage the entire project lifecycle from technical design to bid submission. • **RESPONSIBILITIES**:

• - Design & Engineer: Develop structural and geotechnical designs for complex ground retention systems, CFA piling, hand piling, complete basement excavations, shoring systems, and demolition scopes. Experience across the entire early-works spectrum is essential.

• - Solve Complex Challenges: Quickly modify designs to address unanticipated on-site soil conditions, adverse weather impacts, and structural limitations.

• - Collaborate & Coordinate: Work in close partnership with the pre-construction and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to execution. Actively contribute to the estimating process, assisting the team in scoping, pricing, and coordinating trade packages.

• - Analyze Technical Data: Evaluate geotechnical reports, site surveys, and structural blueprints to devise the most efficient, cost-effective, and safe foundation solutions.

• - Ensure Compliance: Rigorously adhere to local building codes, safety standards, and engineering best practices across all project outputs.

• - Estimate & Quote: Produce detailed take-offs, cost estimates, and client-facing proposals for piling, shoring, excavation, and demolition scopes. Take ownership of the technical inputs to the quoting process and contribute to generating competitive submissions.

• - Support Field Operations: Offer practical technical assistance to on-site crews during challenging groundworks, ensuring the design intent is fulfilled and addressing any construction deviations promptly.

⛳️ Requirements

• **QUALIFICATIONS**:

• - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

• - Experience: A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated engineering experience in Australia, particularly in foundation design, piling (CFA, bored, hand), ground retention, shoring, excavation, and demolition. Familiarity with Australian construction standards, codes, and project environments is essential.

• - Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in structural and geotechnical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, WALLAP, PLAXIS, or other equivalent industry tools).

• - Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of soil mechanics, groundworks/early works phases, and Australian construction standards including NCC, AS/NZS codes, and local council requirements.

• - Analytical Skills: Proven capability to accurately interpret complex geotechnical reports and convert that information into actionable, structurally sound designs.

• - Estimating & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated proficiency in preparing take-offs, cost estimates, and client-oriented quotes for piling, shoring, excavation, and demolition scopes. Comfortable navigating both design and pre-construction commercial functions.
