Design Engineer – Hard & Soft Trim

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and model plastic and trim components for automotive interiors.

• Develop designs for door trims, floor consoles, pillar trims, carpets, insulation parts, instrument panels, and rear quarter trims.

• Facilitate design reviews with the Global Technical Centre Team to reach consensus on design solutions.

• Release components in the PLM system at each project milestone.

• Conduct studies on packaging, manufacturing, and assembly feasibility.

• Execute benchmarking studies as necessary.

• Collaborate with suppliers, manage PLM activities, and work with development and cross-functional teams.

• Coordinate DVPR testing with suppliers and work with SQE to bring parts for assembly.

• Assist impact, durability, and NVH analysis teams in fulfilling regulatory and testing requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3 to 6 years of experience in Product Design and development specifically for automotive trim components.

• Proven experience in designing at both component and system levels.

• Proficient in CATIA and ENOVIA/Ennovia.

• Expertise in CATIA/UGNX modeling and surfacing techniques.

• Solid understanding of feasibility studies for manufacturing and assembly.

• Experience collaborating with international Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs.

• Knowledgeable in injection molding processes.

• Experience in designing hard trim components such as instrument panels, floor consoles, door trims, pillar trims, scuff plates, quarter trims, and lift gates.

• Experience in designing soft trim components including headliners, carpets, dash insulators, and firewall insulators.

• Strong presentation and communication skills.
