This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Create designs for sprinkler systems by collaborating with client representatives and various service contractors until a final plan is established.
• Track the design timeline in relation to the construction schedule and specification requirements.
• Issue completion documents and certifications.
• Gather information from the site, architects, consultants, builders, and other trades to generate fully designed working drawings.
• Attend site meetings independently when design topics are on the agenda.
• Prepare comprehensive working drawings in compliance with relevant design codes.
• Determine pipe sizes through hydraulic calculations.
• Generate material lists for procurement, variation estimates, and rate schedules.
• Send drawings and material quantities to suppliers and subcontractors for procurement.
• Order materials and oversee equipment levels to ensure maintenance.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the Project Manager or Design Manager.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Extensive experience in a design engineering position within the sprinkler industry (essential).
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of LPC BS EN 12845 regulations (essential).
• LPCB Intermediate qualification & LPCB Full Hydraulic Calculation qualification (highly desirable).
• Proficient in using AutoCAD (essential).
• Experience with Revit 3D (highly desirable).
• Skilled in Full Hydraulic Calculation software, preferably Canute (desirable).
• Familiarity with Factory Mutual Standards (essential).
• Knowledge of NFPA standards (highly desirable).
• HND or Degree qualification in a construction or engineering design-related field (highly desirable).
• Experience in managing, developing, mentoring, and leading a team.
• Strong professional communication skills with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Excellent organizational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Valid driving license.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional overnight stays away from home.
• May be required to undergo a DBS check.
