This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the principal engineer for commercial Electronic Security Systems (ESS) design initiatives.
• Assist throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial sales ideas to design development, construction documentation, and administration.
• Create specifications, designs, budgets, timelines, and oversee client expectations.
• Envision system designs and ascertain system requirements.
• Guide and aid in the drafting/modeling of security floor plans, access control, video, intrusion, vehicle gate systems, wiring diagrams, schematics, and backboard layouts.
• Prepare Bills of Materials and necessary documentation for client RFPs.
• Generate 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% IFC, and/or shop drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Revit.
• Research, identify, and propose technology solutions for clients.
• Conduct quality control by evaluating drawings and suggesting design modifications.
• Ensure that drawings align with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
• Engage with clients and contribute to P&L outcomes.
• Establish enduring client relationships and manage accounts alongside team members.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to Design Engineers and Associate Design Engineers.
• Represent ESS Engineering in company-wide initiatives and strategic discussions.
• Travel to active job sites and provide guidance throughout project lifecycles, including onsite training for new hires.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects in access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
• Strong understanding of system integration, project engineering processes, and feedback loops between field and office.
• Proficient in process improvement methodologies, technical governance, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to engage internal teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders effectively.
• Capable of interpreting performance data, identifying trends, and driving strategic enhancements.
• Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading engineering teams.
• Experience in managing vendor relationships and coordinating enterprise-level technology training.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on operational efficiency and documentation quality.
• 5–7+ years of experience in ESS systems design, integration, or engineering is required.
• A minimum of 2 years in team leadership or engineering management roles.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Lenel, CCure, Honeywell, Brivo, Milestone, ExacqVision, Eagle Eye, Axis, and Hanwha.
• Experience with enterprise-level networking, IP-based ESS system architecture, AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
• Background in managing multi-discipline technical teams and supporting regional or enterprise-scale project delivery.
• Industry certifications in access control or video surveillance are advantageous.
• Continuous participation in trade shows, seminars, training sessions, and educational forums.
• Onsite training for new hires and professional development opportunities.
