This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Assist in fulfilling the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) requirements of our clients.
• Engage in high-profile or mission-critical elements of a particular program and execute all functional responsibilities autonomously.
• Supervise the activities of junior staff and/or take full responsibility for the performance of all personnel assigned to a specific task.
• Initiate, manage, and/or formulate requirements from a project's beginning to end for programs ranging from complex to extremely complex.
• Offer strategic counsel, technical advice, and expertise to program and project personnel.
• Conduct thorough analysis, evaluation, and provide recommendations for enhancements, optimization initiatives, and/or maintenance efforts addressing client-specific or mission-critical challenges.
• Collaborate with clients to identify needs or issues, oversee studies, and lead surveys to gather and analyze data to offer guidance and propose solutions.
• Capable of leading solutions to defense trade challenges and delivering exceptional service to our clients while enhancing previous approaches.
• Skilled in guiding team members through problem-solving and overcoming obstacles with effective communication skills that simplify issues.
• Serve as a trusted advisor with well-established relationships with our clients and the U.S. Government.
• 5-9 years of relevant work experience for Senior Specialist or over 10 years for Principal Specialist, specifically in defense trade – ITAR, FMS, or TSFD experience is essential.
• Proficient understanding of the ITAR, EAR, and AECA.
• Experience in establishing international trade compliance programs for aerospace or defense firms (prior ITAR Empowered Official is preferred).
• Strong capabilities in drafting and managing ITAR export licenses and agreements.
• Experience in participating in and overseeing ITAR compliance audits and evaluations.
• Proficient in conducting self-classifications and commodity jurisdictions with technical precision.
• Experience in developing and implementing organization-wide international trade compliance policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of the Foreign Military Sales process from Letter of Request (LOR) to Letter of Offer & Acceptance (LOA).
• Understanding of Technology Security & Foreign Disclosure (TSFD) Release.
• Familiarity with social media and strategic communication methods.
• Strong customer service and client management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide training to audiences at all levels, from action officers to C-Suite executives within a defense industry context.
• Ability to build and sustain rapport with clients and the U.S. Government.
• Proficient in resolving defense trade issues and providing customer service independently and with minimal revisions.
• A dependable resource for all colleagues with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must hold and maintain a DoD Active Secret Security Clearance or higher.
