Defense Trade Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assist in fulfilling the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) requirements of our clients.

• Engage in high-profile or mission-critical components of assigned programs.

• Carry out all functional responsibilities with limited oversight from senior personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-5 years of pertinent experience related to defense trade – ITAR, FMS, or TSFD experience is mandatory.

• Familiarity with the ITAR, EAR, and AECA regulations.

• Proven experience in developing international trade compliance programs for aerospace or defense firms (prior ITAR-Empowered Official preferred).

• Strong capability to draft and manage ITAR export licenses and agreements.

• Experience in participating in and overseeing ITAR compliance audits and evaluations.

• Ability to conduct self-classifications and commodity jurisdiction assessments with technical precision.

• Experience in drafting and implementing comprehensive international trade compliance policies and procedures.

• Understanding of the Foreign Military Sales process from Letter of Request (LOR) to Letter of Offer & Acceptance (LOA).

• Knowledge of Technology Security & Foreign Disclosure (TSFD) Release practices.

• Skills in customer service and client relationship management.

• Ability to effectively communicate and provide training to various audiences (from action officers to C-Suite executives) within a defense industry setting.

• Capacity to build and maintain relationships with clients and the U.S. Government with appropriate guidance.

• Ability to address defense trade challenges and offer solutions to clients with some supervision.

• A dependable resource for all colleagues with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• The capability to obtain and uphold a DoD Active Secret Security Clearance or higher is essential.

• Openness to travel up to 25% of the time.
