This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Install, configure, manage, patch, upgrade, and maintain IBM DB2 databases.
• Monitor the health, availability, performance, capacity, and resource utilization of databases.
• Conduct performance tuning for databases and SQL.
• Analyze SQL execution plans to identify performance issues.
• Optimize tables, indexes, queries, memory, storage, and database settings.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures for databases.
• Perform restoration and recovery of databases as necessary.
• Design and maintain configurations for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Conduct database capacity planning and manage storage resources.
• Oversee database user management, including roles, privileges, and access controls.
• Enforce database security, encryption, and auditing standards.
• Monitor database logs, jobs, utilities, and scheduled tasks.
• Resolve issues related to database failures, locking, deadlocks, connectivity, and performance.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for incidents in production databases.
• Assist with database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and environment cloning.
• Develop scripts and utilities to automate routine database administration tasks.
• Support application releases and production deployments from the database viewpoint.
• Maintain documentation regarding database configurations, SOPs, recovery processes, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in production incident, change, and problem management activities.
• Over 10 years of hands-on experience as an IBM DB2 DBA.
• Extensive experience with DB2 LUW administration.
• Proficient SQL skills.
• Strong background in database performance tuning.
• Experience with DB2 backup and recovery processes.
• Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
• Knowledge of database security, access control, and auditing practices.
• Strong skills in Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production databases.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience with database monitoring and performance management tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• IBM DB2 certification is preferred.
