This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Assist the DESTINY application team by enhancing database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers.
• Collaborate closely with developers to implement improvements, fixes, and new features that align with business requirements.
• Ensure that application releases and changes to the data model are in sync with database environments.
• Maintain data integrity through comprehensive validation, referential integrity, and effective error-handling techniques.
• Uphold database security standards, user access controls, and auditing practices in accordance with DC government policies.
• Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection regulations relevant to DMV-related personal information.
• Utilize DB2 monitoring tools to proactively detect performance issues.
• Evaluate SQL performance, analyze query execution plans, and suggest optimizations.
• Optimize databases, memory pools, indexes, and storage configurations to enhance system throughput.
• Provide ongoing support for fixes, enhancements, and modernization initiatives for the DESTINY system.
• Work with OCTO infrastructure teams concerning server performance, storage, and network connectivity that impacts DB2.
• Execute schema changes, table restructuring, indexing strategies, and partitioning as needed.
• Offer technical expertise and support to District agencies, personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.
• Over 15 years of extensive hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS based on the environment).
• Proficient in database design, data modeling, schema management, and SQL optimization.
• Familiarity with high-availability technologies (HADR, replication, failover, clustering).
• Experience in supporting complex, transactional, high-volume systems (experience with government or DMV systems is preferred).
• Knowledge of ETL processes, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.
• Understanding of IBM batch jobs and their integration with enterprise applications.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and performance tuning.
