Database Warehouse Analyst II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and development of data models, data flows, transformations, and queries within SAP BW and Data Sphere.

• Architect and sustain BW data models, including InfoProviders, ADSOs, Composite Providers, and Open ODS views.

• Ensure the optimal performance of data loads and reporting by adhering to SAP best practices.

• Facilitate integration between SAP BW and external systems like Salesforce, SQL Server, Power BI, or other data lakes and warehouses.

• Spearhead the comprehensive migration from legacy SAP BW/BW4HANA to SAP Datasphere, encompassing assessment, data model conversion, delta migration, and cutover planning.

• Design hybrid data flows that connect SAP Datasphere with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Analytics, enabling unified analytics across both SAP and non-SAP data domains.

• Incorporate Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, and AI Builder capabilities into reporting and analytics workflows to provide intelligent, AI-enhanced insights for business users.

• Establish and enforce data migration standards, validation frameworks, and reconciliation processes to guarantee data integrity during and after platform transitions.

• Manage BW-related deliverables across multiple projects from the requirements phase through to implementation.

• Define technical solutions in collaboration with functional teams and enterprise architects.

• Conduct code reviews and uphold technical standards and best practices.

• Engage with business users to collect reporting and analytics requirements.

• Convert business requirements into technical solutions within SAP BW.

• Present prototypes and final deliverables to both business and IT stakeholders.

• Lead and mentor offshore development teams; assign tasks and review their deliverables.

• Ensure the timely execution and quality assurance of all development activities.

• Act as the escalation point for BW-related issues and performance challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with BW/4HANA.

• Extensive knowledge in:

• - InfoObjects, ADSOs, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views, Transformations, DTPs, and Process Chains.

• - Query Designer / BW Queries / Analysis for Office.

• Proficiency in ABAP for BW, specifically for custom logic, routines, and enhancements.

• Experience in integrating BW with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Salesforce, and external databases like SQL Server.

• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.

• Familiarity with Power BI or other frontend tools connected to BW is advantageous.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and performance tuning abilities.

• Hands-on experience with SAP Datasphere or proven experience migrating from SAP BW/BW4HANA to a modern SAP data platform.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory for hybrid data warehouse and lakehouse architectures.

• Understanding of Microsoft Copilot for Power BI, Azure OpenAI Service, and AI Builder for embedding AI-driven analytics and natural language querying into business reporting.

• Exposure to Azure, SAP Datasphere, or cloud integration scenarios.

• Experience with SAP BW-to-Datasphere migration tools and methodologies, including the utilization of SAP’s migration cockpit and data migration objects.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for data governance and lineage across SAP and Microsoft platforms.

• Insight into generative AI and large language model (LLM) use cases in enterprise analytics, including natural language querying, automated insight generation, and AI-assisted data preparation.
