This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and sustain data-driven software applications that facilitate the distribution of aeronautical information to FAA customers.
• Engage in ad hoc software development for specialized projects and emerging requirements from the Aeronautical Data Team.
• Customize, configure, and integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications.
• Modernize, replace, or enhance legacy applications.
• Assess, test, and validate COTS applications prior to deployment.
• Collect, analyze, clarify, and document functional and technical requirements in collaboration with users and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement workflows that support Aeronautical Data Team initiatives.
• Design, develop, and maintain relational database architecture, queries, stored procedures, views, functions, interfaces, and application components.
• Convert business and operational requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions.
• Diagnose application, database, integration, production, and data-quality issues; execute root-cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Participate in technical working groups, planning sessions, requirement discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and project meetings.
• Collaborate with developers, database specialists, system administrators, analysts, testers, and FAA stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance, share knowledge, and offer mentoring.
• Uphold software quality, cybersecurity, configuration management, and organizational development standards.
• Execute additional software and database development tasks that align with program and customer objectives.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 8 years of pertinent professional experience.
• Additional relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise software applications.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
• Strong background in relational databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience in developing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, database schemas, and data interfaces.
• Experience in developing or supporting database-driven web, desktop, or enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with modernizing, replacing, or enhancing legacy software applications.
• Experience in translating user and business requirements into functional and technical solutions.
• Proficient in troubleshooting intricate application, database, interface, and data-quality issues.
• Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
• Comprehensive experience across the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to independently manage technical assignments and tackle complex development challenges.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with government customers, users, technical personnel, and cross-functional teams.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with federal customers, aeronautical/aviation/geospatial/transportation data, COTS, cloud technologies, REST APIs, DevSecOps, source control, Agile methodologies, secure SDLC, reviews, technical leadership, and FAA AIS experience.
