This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise database platforms such as IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and various other relational and NoSQL technologies.
• Design and implement database environments that are highly available, secure, and scalable.
• Monitor database performance and carry out query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and configuration tuning.
• Create and maintain solutions for backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, resilience, and high availability.
• Implement security controls for databases to protect sensitive data, including PHI.
• Conduct proactive monitoring, maintenance, capacity planning, and performance management.
• Oversee data retention, archival, restoration, purging, and storage optimization processes.
• Collaborate with application developers, data engineers, analytics teams, cybersecurity experts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Administer AWS database services such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift.
• Facilitate database migration, modernization, cloud adoption, integration, and consolidation initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production incidents.
• Develop automation scripts and tools for provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, backup validation, security validation, and operations.
• Maintain documentation, standards, procedures, and best practices for database management.
• Ensure adherence to data governance and regulatory standards.
• Responsibly utilize AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency and automate routine tasks.
• Participate in after-hours support and scheduled maintenance as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in administering enterprise database environments.
• Preferred professional database certifications include IBM Db2, MongoDB, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in administering IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong SQL programming abilities.
• Expertise in database architecture, physical and logical design, indexing, partitioning, query optimization, execution plans, and performance tuning.
• Comprehensive understanding of backup and recovery, replication, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, resilience, and business continuity planning.
• Experience in implementing enterprise database security measures, including RBAC, authentication, authorization, encryption, auditing, least-privilege access, dynamic data masking, row- and column-level security, and PHI protection.
• Familiarity with both Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience with administering Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift.
• Strong grasp of relational database architecture, lifecycle management, and operational best practices.
• Ability to enhance performance in high-volume transactional and analytical settings.
• Experience with database monitoring, administration, automation, and performance management tools.
• Preferred experience in supporting database migration, modernization, data warehousing, ETL, or business intelligence solutions.
• Experience in developing automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting technologies is preferred.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to production incidents.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Capability to work independently and collaborate with both technical and business teams.
• Ability to responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools while adhering to organizational policies and data security requirements.
• Ability to engage in primarily seated work with extensive computer and telephone use, and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
