This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Oversee, monitor, and manage relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) in both production and development settings.
• Conduct routine database operations such as backups and recovery, schema modifications, patching, upgrades, and security enhancements.
• Assist in incident response, perform root cause analysis, and facilitate recovery for database-related challenges.
• Engage in automation, configuration management, and modernization efforts.
• Execute monitoring and analysis tasks.
• Collaborate effectively with systems and infrastructure teams to comprehend storage, operating systems, and networking components that impact database performance and reliability.
• Utilize fundamental Linux command-line and system knowledge to troubleshoot and enhance database processes.
• Extensive hands-on experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle (PostgreSQL is highly preferred).
• Strong understanding of daily DBA operational responsibilities, including backups, replication, security, user management, and logging.
• At least basic experience in performance tuning; medium level is strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Linux systems, encompassing filesystem layout, memory/disk utilization, and OS-level tools.
• Familiarity with configuration management (Ansible) and other automation/deployment tools.
• Experience with both on-premises and cloud configurations.
• Experience with database-specific monitoring.
