This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Monitor and uphold database standards.
• Adhere to governance policies and industry best practices for database management and utilization throughout the organization.
• Carry out the installation and upgrades of the database server and application tools in a timely manner and according to established standards.
• Implement controls and oversee user access to the database.
• Introduce security protocols to protect the database.
• Supervise the performance, security, and availability of all database systems.
• Ensure that patches are recognized and applied to systems in accordance with documented security and database best practices.
• Assist in developing and maintaining thorough documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Manage database backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data from loss or corruption.
• Adhere to Change Management practices when applying database configuration changes.
• Follow Problem Management processes to identify and resolve recurring issues.
• Actively monitor and respond to database alerts.
• Address and resolve tickets and new build requests in accordance with SLA guidelines.
• Serve as a mentor within the DBA team and the larger organization, offering guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for database operations.
• 2-4 years of experience in database administration within an Oracle or MS SQL environment.
• Strong understanding of database technologies such as MS SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience with essential operating systems including Windows and Linux.
• Familiarity with database backup and redundancy technologies.
• Skilled in database security access control, encryption, and auditing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of database, instance, and server-level monitoring and alerting.
• Proficient in scripting, utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL, T-SQL, and shell scripting technologies.
• Experience with Cassandra administration is a plus.
• Familiarity with technology troubleshooting methodologies.
• Capability to perform performance tuning and triage.
• Effective team player and mentor with the ability to collaborate in a global team setting.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously evolving technology team and organization.
• Willingness to participate in a department-level on-call 24/7 pager rotation.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
