This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Administer and enhance SQL Server instances across both on-premises and Azure environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, index optimization, and query analysis.
• Oversee MongoDB Atlas clusters and implement strategies for security, backup, recovery, replication, and performance.
• Design and execute high-availability and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Azure SQL Failover Groups, Distributed Availability Groups, and cross-platform replication.
• Spearhead database security initiatives that involve RBAC, encryption, audit logging, and compliance with financial services regulations.
• Automate operational tasks through T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Manage the monitoring and alerting infrastructure.
• Analyze performance metrics and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.
• Support backup and restore operations as well as database migration projects.
• Participate in BHG Oars in Experience during the first six months, followed by periodic team on-sites and meetings with approximately 5% annual travel.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
• Over 8 years of practical SQL Server database administration experience.
• More than 3 years of experience with Mongo databases.
• Expertise in Azure SQL Database and SQL Managed Instance administration and optimization.
• Strong proficiency in MongoDB Atlas, including cluster management, backups, query optimization, security configuration, and operational best practices.
• Capability to utilize the Atlas CLI for programmatic deployment and modification of clusters.
• Experience in profiling slow queries, developing efficient indexing strategies, and restructuring document schemas.
• Advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures, triggers, query optimization, index tuning, and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with high-availability solutions such as Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, or equivalent cloud-native options.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for database automation and infrastructure management.
• Knowledge of column-level encryption, row-level security, transparent data encryption, and audit frameworks.
• Practical experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including BACPAC and bulk export/import operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database performance issues and implement optimization strategies.
• Must possess valid U.S. work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Preferred: Experience with Azure Databricks.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Redgate, Foglight, Azure Monitor, or similar monitoring tools.
• Preferred: Experience with SSIS or similar ETL tools.
• Preferred: Knowledge of SOX, PCI, and GDPR.
• Preferred: Microsoft Certified Data Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), or MongoDB Certified DBA.
