Data Scientist, NLP, AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, prototype, assess, and implement LLM-driven applications for both enterprise and customer-facing scenarios.

• Develop prompting strategies, structured-output workflows, model routing, context-management techniques, and fine-tuning or adaptation approaches as needed.

• Establish comprehensive LLM evaluation frameworks that address task quality, factual accuracy, relevance, robustness, latency, cost, safety, and user experience.

• Investigate and apply agentic AI patterns, including planning, tool and function invocation, memory usage, reflection, human-in-the-loop approvals, and multi-step workflow execution.

• Create and deploy scalable AI and machine learning solutions on GCP utilizing Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and related data and AI services.

• Construct reusable Python components, APIs, experimentation pipelines, and data products that integrate with enterprise platforms and applications.

• Develop and manage data pipelines that prepare both structured and unstructured data for modeling, experimentation, evaluation, and production deployment.

• Conduct exploratory analysis, feature engineering, statistical modeling, and machine learning to support broader data science objectives.

• Implement observability, monitoring, guardrails, automated testing, and feedback mechanisms to enhance model and application performance post-deployment.

• Convey technical insights, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Keep abreast of emerging generative AI techniques and convert promising research into actionable business value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative or technical discipline.

• Over 2 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, applied AI, natural language processing, or a similar technical role.

• More than 5 years of experience in designing or deploying agentic AI systems, including tool-utilizing agents, graph-based workflows, multi-agent collaboration, or human-in-the-loop controls.

• Strong programming capabilities in Python and proficiency in SQL; experience in writing maintainable, testable, production-quality code.

• Practical experience in developing applications using commercial or open-source LLMs.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, model integration, and fundamental NLP concepts.

• Experience with GCP data and AI services, especially Vertex AI and BigQuery, or relevant major-cloud experience with a readiness to transition to GCP.

• Proficiency in Git, APIs, containers, CI/CD, identity and access management, and production monitoring.

• Ability to interpret ambiguous business requirements into measurable technical goals and deliver iteratively within a cross-functional team.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication abilities.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with Vertex AI Model Garden, Generative AI Studio, custom training, endpoints, pipelines, evaluation, and monitoring.

• Preferred: familiarity with BigQuery, BigQuery ML, Dataflow, or associated GCP services.

• Preferred: experience in fine-tuning, parameter-efficient adaptation, synthetic data generation, distillation, model serving, or optimization.

• Preferred: background in developing evaluation datasets, automated evaluators, adversarial tests, red-team scenarios, and regression test suites for generative AI.

• Preferred: understanding of LLMOps and MLOps principles, including versioning, experiment tracking, monitoring, scalable inference, and cost optimization.

• Preferred: experience in delivering AI solutions within regulated, safety-conscious, or large-enterprise environments.
