Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Act as the main facilitator for the preparation, execution, and follow-up of all Planning, Programming, and Budgeting Committee – Guard (PPBC-G) forums, including the Resourcing Council of Colonels (RCoC) and the Resource Integration Steering Committee (RISC).

• Collaborate with Army National Guard Bureau staff to develop topics, products, and presentations for submission to the PPBC-G process.

• Assist in the design, development, and execution of all data analytic initiatives led by the GS-13 Data Scientist as directed by the DAG-R Division Chief/Deputy Division Chief to support the Chief Financial Officer’s analytic agenda.

• Offer expertise on ARNG Roles, Missions, Authorities, and Army strategic guidance, as well as key planning efforts like The Army Plan (TAP), Total Army Analysis (TAA), Army Equipment Modernization Strategy (AEMS), and Long-Range Investment Requirements Analysis (LIRA).

• Create and improve websites, applications, and secure access to databases according to requirements for analytic efforts as approved by the COR.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience.

• A minimum of four years of experience, including two years within the DoD, working with big-data systems and developing production-level data models.

• Have skills and expertise in machine learning tools for feature selection, classifier creation, and optimization.

• Exhibit strong collegiate-level writing abilities, familiarity with U.S. Army organization and regulations, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Show practical experience substantiating equivalent skills such as Structured Query Language, Microsoft Excel, R or Python statistical programming, Data Visualization, and Presentation Skills.

• Prior knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, and Advana data science is preferred.
