Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and develop algorithms aimed at identifying bots and combating fraud.

• Assist throughout the entire fraud prevention process, including gathering business requirements, performing exploratory research, and deploying statistical detection techniques in production.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Analysts to enhance bot detection capabilities.

• Create competitive product features and optimize the data and machine learning infrastructure.

• Explore and experiment with detection frameworks in the realms of cybersecurity and fraud, as well as statistical techniques and machine learning tools.

• Uphold data science standards and best practices in detection and modeling processes.

• Review the work of fellow data scientists before implementing detection rules and algorithms.

• Engage in anomaly monitoring ('sheriffing') and participate in technical debt days.

• Develop software tools and automation processes to expedite fraud detection and alleviate cumbersome tasks.

• Proven experience in resolving large-scale, data-intensive challenges within production systems.

• Proficient in handling extensive datasets.

• Ability to articulate statistical modeling methods and determine the most suitable approaches.

• Engineering knowledge regarding the deployment of functional code to end-users.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Familiarity with pertinent tools, libraries, and platforms.

• Expertise in object-oriented programming.

• Strong debugging capabilities.

• Experience in cross-functional projects involving various technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Adherence to SDLC best practices, including project management, version control, unit testing, and CI/CD.
