Data Quality Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement frameworks for ensuring data quality and validation.

• Collaborate with various departments to introduce new features, assist internal stakeholders, and enhance data infrastructure.

• Work alongside the Senior Engineer, Quantitative Modeler, and Solutions Architect to guarantee that the data used in the product and financial models is validated and ready for launch.

• Engage in daily stand-ups and milestone meetings.

• Act as the quality control checkpoint for data received from vendors before product delivery.

• Create monitoring and documentation processes for data quality to support the pipeline after launch.

• Identify and communicate data quality risks and vendor issues to the Director of Engineering.

• Oversee relationships with external data vendors, ensuring continuous data quality and validation.

• Take ownership of the integrity, validation, and reliability of product data pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python programming for production systems (modular code, not Jupyter notebooks).

• Familiarity with Git workflows and collaborative code review practices.

• Experience with Docker images and container build tools.

• Skilled in designing data validation and verification pipelines, including automated testing.

• Ability to assess data quality and conduct feasibility analyses for solutions.

• Knowledge of data exploration and engineering tools such as pandas, SQL, and similar technologies.

• Experience with DAG-based ETL orchestration tools (e.g., Prefect or similar).

• Proficient in AWS, particularly S3.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering, data quality, or analytics engineering roles.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may also be accepted.

• Experience in managing or coordinating with external data vendors, including troubleshooting data quality issues.

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, preferably supporting product launches or similar high-pressure deliveries.

• Experience collaborating with quantitative or financial roles, or a background in climate tech is highly regarded.

• Must possess authorization to work in the US.
