Data Platform SRE, Observability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and implement comprehensive monitoring solutions for infrastructure stacks, including Trino, Kubernetes, databases, Apache Ozone, and Hadoop.

• Establish automated processes for collecting DORA metrics.

• Develop high-level health dashboards that visualize service uptime effectively.

• Review existing metrics and identify gaps in infrastructure monitoring, especially concerning Kubernetes, databases, and distributed storage systems.

• Enhance and refine Alertmanager rules to proactively identify incidents and anomalies.

• Act as the subject-matter expert in monitoring, alleviating the routine dashboard and alerting support workload for team leads.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a DevOps/SRE and at least 5 years in the IT field.

• Proficiency in Python; knowledge of Go/JS is an advantage.

• Experience as an SRE or monitoring engineer with a focus on infrastructure reliability, not product feature development.

• In-depth understanding of Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.

• Proven experience in writing complex PromQL queries and managing alert fatigue.

• Solid grasp of SLI/SLO/SLA concepts and error budgets.

• Familiarity with the methodology for collecting DORA metrics.

• Experience working with Kubernetes and databases.

• Ability to quickly understand the metrics of distributed systems such as Hadoop and Trino.

• Competence in translating abstract system behaviors and logs into clear, structured, and actionable metrics.
