This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

• Design, implement, and maintain both relational and non-relational database environments in high-stakes situations.

• Ensure the database environments are highly available, scalable, secure, and operationally efficient.

• Administer, tune, troubleshoot, and continuously optimize database performance.

• Analyze and enhance queries, indexes, execution plans, locks, deadlocks, and resource usage.

• Implement strategies for monitoring, observability, and incident response.

• Lead the resolution of critical incidents, perform root cause analyses, and suggest structural improvements.

• Automate operational and administrative tasks utilizing scripts and automation tools.

• Engage with Infrastructure as Code practices for the provisioning and management of environments.

• Establish and advocate for best practices in governance, versioning, backup, disaster recovery, and data security.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure teams to enhance solutions.

• Demonstrated experience as a DBA or DBRE in complex, large-scale data environments.

• Advanced expertise in relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or SQL Server.

• Experience with managed cloud databases, ideally on GCP and/or AWS.

• Advanced knowledge in tuning, troubleshooting, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery processes.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and search engines such as MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.

• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar applications.

• Proficiency in automation using Python, Shell Script, or equivalent programming languages.

• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and schema/migration versioning.

• Awareness of security practices, encryption, access control, and data governance standards.

• Capability to function in critical environments with a strong emphasis on reliability, efficiency, and ongoing improvement.
