Data Governance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the organization's data governance framework.

• Establish and uphold data quality standards, ownership models, metadata management, and documentation for data lineage.

• Promote data classification and access control practices within case management, finance, and CRM systems.

• Set and track data quality KPIs, addressing data quality challenges and their root causes in collaboration with business stakeholders.

• Offer guidance, training, and communication regarding data governance obligations and best practices.

• Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and business leaders to ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.

• Assist in GDPR compliance efforts, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and governance of data utilized in the data estate, AI, and machine learning solutions.

• Serve as the main point of contact for matters related to data governance and regulation.

• Formulate policies and standards for the handling of data by third-party and AI vendors.

• Lead a cross-functional data governance forum, tracking decisions, actions, risks, and accountability until completion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, or enhancing data governance frameworks within complex or regulated settings.

• Solid understanding of UK GDPR and its practical application in regulated environments.

• Familiarity with data catalogues, metadata, and data lineage tools, such as Microsoft Purview or comparable platforms.

• Knowledge of master data management principles and practices related to data quality management.

• Strong skills in stakeholder management and influence, including interaction with senior leadership.

• Experience in driving governance initiatives while balancing operational and business delivery needs.

• Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.

• Awareness of recognized data management principles or frameworks, such as DAMA-DMBOK or equivalent best practices (desirable).

• Background in insurance, legal services, financial services, or other highly regulated industries (desirable).

• Comprehension of Responsible AI principles, AI governance frameworks, and risks associated with AI-enabled solutions (desirable).

• Experience in supporting governance requirements for machine learning and advanced analytics projects (desirable).

• Understanding of SRA data handling obligations and requirements for data sharing with insurers or corporate clients (desirable, but not mandatory).
