Data Governance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the company's data governance framework.

• Establish and uphold standards for data quality, ownership models, metadata management, and documentation of data lineage.

• Propel data classification and access control initiatives across case management, finance, and CRM systems.

• Set up and track data quality KPIs, collaborating with business stakeholders to address data quality challenges and their root causes.

• Offer practical advice, training, and communication to colleagues, data owners, and data stewards.

• Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and relevant business leaders to ensure robust governance and compliance with regulations.

• Assist in GDPR compliance efforts, including conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments and overseeing the governance of data utilized within the data estate, AI, and machine learning solutions.

• Serve as the main point of contact for all data-related governance and regulatory issues.

• Develop policies and standards for handling data from third-party and AI vendors.

• Lead a cross-functional data governance forum, ensuring documentation and tracking of decisions, actions, risks, and accountability until completion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, or enhancing data governance frameworks in complex or regulated settings.

• Solid understanding of UK GDPR and its practical application in regulated environments.

• Familiarity with data catalogues, metadata, and data lineage tools, such as Microsoft Purview or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of master data management principles and practices related to data quality management.

• Strong skills in stakeholder management and influence, with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership.

• Experience in driving governance initiatives while balancing operational and business delivery needs.

• Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.

• Familiarity with recognized data management principles or frameworks, such as DAMA-DMBOK or equivalent best practices.

• Experience in sectors such as insurance, legal services, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.

• Understanding of Responsible AI principles, AI governance frameworks, and the risks related to AI-enabled solutions.

• Experience in supporting governance requirements for machine learning and advanced analytics projects.

• Knowledge of SRA data handling obligations and insurer/corporate client data-sharing requirements is preferred but not mandatory.
