This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of Software Engineers, dedicating efforts to their career advancement, professional growth, and psychological well-being.
• Spearhead recruitment and hiring initiatives for software engineering roles within your team, while overseeing the structured onboarding and training processes for new engineering personnel.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, data analysts, and editorial partners throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle.
• Direct the technical planning, scoping, and execution of upcoming software projects, facilitating Agile ceremonies as necessary.
• Perform comprehensive software design and code reviews, offering constructive and detailed feedback to uphold code quality, architectural integrity, and security standards.
• Evaluate, propose, and implement enhancements to engineering workflows aimed at boosting the speed, safety, and quality of software delivery.
• Identify recurring engineering obstacles and challenges, creating helper tools or automation scripts to improve the developer experience (DX) for the team.
• Manage and coordinate the team's response to critical production bugs or infrastructure incidents.
• Oversee workflows, code standards, and deliverables for external contributors and specialized development vendors.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing, mentoring, or leading data engineers within an agile framework.
• Previous experience as an individual contributor in engineering, testing, and deploying robust code for at least one large-scale data application or service.
• Proven experience working collaboratively within cross-functional Agile/Scrum product teams.
• Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or other comparable cloud computing platforms.
• Experience in managing high-availability, distributed, and fault-tolerant applications, services, and APIs.
• Proficient in SQL and at least one other general-purpose programming language, such as Python.
• Practical experience with modern version control systems, primarily Git.
