This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee junior members of the data engineering team, including mentoring, planning, and evaluating their work.
• Develop and sustain optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Assemble large and intricate data sets that fulfill both functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Enhance the machine learning platform by designing tools that integrate with cloud services and the existing codebase.
• Construct infrastructure for extracting, transforming, and loading data from diverse sources utilizing SQL, Python, and AWS.
• Create analytics tools that deliver actionable insights into critical business performance metrics.
• Address the needs of the analytics team.
• Develop data-handling tools for members of the analytics and data science teams.
• Collaborate with the Development team to create solutions that span multiple teams.
• Optimize or redesign the company's data architecture for next-generation products and data initiatives.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Data Engineer position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative discipline.
• Proficient in SQL with extensive experience using relational databases, including Postgres and MySQL.
• Skilled in SQL query creation.
• Familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Proven experience in constructing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets from raw, loosely structured data.
• Background in test-driven design and results for repeatable and maintainable processes and tools.
• Experience in developing processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and workload management.
• Practical knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable data storage solutions.
• Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, rapidly changing environment.
• Competence in managing multiple projects simultaneously and understanding their implications within a broader system.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic setting.
• Experience supervising junior engineers and guiding a team through project planning, execution, and quality assurance.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design using Python.
• Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, RDS, Redshift, Glue, and S3.
