Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain ETL/ELT pipelines for healthcare datasets, including claims, eligibility, provider, risk adjustment, HEDIS, EHR, and clinical information.

• Assist in the creation of data models and transformations in accordance with HL7, FHIR, and X12 healthcare standards.

• Contribute to ensuring data quality through validation rules, checks, and documentation for healthcare data assets.

• Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to comprehend data requirements and convert them into technical tasks.

• Aid in the ingestion and integration of new data sources from EMR systems, CMS feeds, and vendor partners.

• Create SQL queries, transformations, functions, and stored procedures for reporting and analytics processes.

• Provide support for Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python/Spark jobs, and version control practices.

• Engage in troubleshooting data pipeline failures and resolving data quality issues.

• Maintain data dictionaries, mapping documents, and data governance records.

• Work alongside senior engineers on security protocols, HIPAA compliance, and architecture best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or data integration.

• Proficient SQL skills with experience in relational databases.

• Intermediate proficiency with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, PySpark, or similar ETL tools.

• Familiarity with healthcare data types such as claims, eligibility, provider files, or EHR information.

• Knowledge of interoperability formats like HL7, X12, and FHIR is highly desirable.

• Basic programming skills in Python or Scala.

• Understanding of data warehousing principles and contemporary data architectures.

• Capability to learn promptly and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.

• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Must be able to operate in a highly regulated setting and adhere to HIPAA security and compliance standards.
