Data Center COE Service Site Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee onsite activities for the start-up, testing, installation, and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage power delivery systems in critical data center environments.

• Conduct work in alignment with project scope, quality benchmarks, schedule objectives, safety regulations, ABB protocols, customer specifications, and commissioning strategies.

• Coordinate daily operations with the Project Manager concerning resource readiness, material availability, and key milestones.

• Act as ABB’s primary onsite liaison for clients, commissioning firms, contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Report daily progress, address issues and risks; assist in customer meetings, site inspections, and documentation evaluations.

• Plan onsite operations, including labor, equipment requirements, commissioning sequences, and coordination processes.

• Collaborate with general contractors, electrical contractors, safety managers, and commissioning teams.

• Manage the receipt, handling, staging, and storage of equipment delivered by ABB.

• Enforce ABB HSE standards, maintain site-specific safety plans, ensure personnel training and compliance, and halt unsafe work when necessary.

• Complete field documentation such as test reports, start-up checklists, redlines, field service reports, and punch-list updates.

• Keep current drawings and documentation; assist with audits, inspections, and customer acceptance processes.

• Supervise ABB-contracted subcontractors and manage multi-trade coordination.

• Address field problems and clarify scope-related inquiries.

• Monitor site expenses, projected final costs, schedule progress, and necessary corrective measures.

• Handle onsite purchasing within prescribed guidelines.

• Recruit, coach, guide, and support ABB field engineers, technicians, and support personnel.

• Organize accommodations, site facilities, tools, and workspaces for ABB staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in electrical equipment field service, start-up, testing, or commissioning.

• Experience with OEM-manufactured LV/MV/HV equipment is preferred.

• Background in supporting data center construction or mission-critical electrical infrastructure projects.

• Strong understanding of commissioning processes, electrical protection systems, and power distribution equipment.

• A high school diploma is required.

• Advanced training in electrical or mechanical fields is preferred.

• Willingness to travel 75% across North America, often for extended periods.

• Proven capability to lead onsite operations in dynamic, schedule-oriented settings.

• Familiarity with engineered solutions, including modern digital protection systems and IEC 61850 environments, is preferred.
