Data Analytics Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.

📋 Description

• Construct and enhance the metric layer.

• Design and sustain dbt models.

• Participate in defining the semantic layer (metrics, dimensions, relationships).

• Guarantee the consistency and accuracy of essential business metrics.

• Execute analytical logic, including root cause analysis and metric insights.

• Develop root cause analysis workflows: implement baseline comparisons and companion metric analysis.

• Convert business inquiries into scalable analytical patterns.

• Facilitate metric utilization across various tools.

• Assist with metric application in different BI or analytical platforms.

• Create reusable logic to prevent redundancy across tools.

• Prepare for the upcoming API-based metric serving layer.

• Collaborate with business and product stakeholders.

• Work closely with sales, product, underwriting, claims, experience, and other business teams.

• Transform vague questions into structured metrics and actionable insights.

• Enhance data quality and governance.

• Define and enforce metric definitions, dimension standards, and data contracts.

• Troubleshoot issues across upstream pipelines, the semantic layer, and analytical outputs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

• 3–5 years of experience in analytics engineering or a similar analytical role with proficiency in dbt or comparable transformation frameworks: models, tests, incremental materialization, Jinja macros.

• Advanced SQL skills on a columnar warehouse (Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery).

• Proficiency in Python for data transformation and analysis (pandas, basic scripting).

• Comfortable working with YAML-based configurations and version-controlled analytics workflows.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills—capable of explaining metric definitions and data lineage to non-technical stakeholders.
