Cytogenetics Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Conduct chromosome analysis, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic samples.

• Review test requisitions to collect relevant information for analysis.

• Summarize test findings using ISCN nomenclature.

• Differentiate between normal and abnormal test results.

• Execute and assess troubleshooting procedures.

• Document necessary corrective actions.

• Adhere to company policies and guidelines.

• Primarily focus on oncology chromosomes utilizing Applied Spectral Imaging software.

• May conduct onscreen FISH analysis employing Metasystems Neon.

• Work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Cytogenetics clinical laboratory.

• At least 2 years of experience in cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads through computerized imaging.

• 2 years of experience in Oncology cytogenetics.

• Proficient computer skills, including Internet, email, text messaging, chat applications, and Microsoft Office.

• Strong oral, written, and presentation communication abilities.

• Active listening skills and the capability to provide constructive feedback.

• A strong focus on patient care.

• Capability to manage time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional growth.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Preferred: ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG).

• Preferred: 1 year or more of FISH Oncology Cytogenetics experience.

• Must have a dedicated, non-shared home office that complies with HIPAA regulations.

• Wired internet connection with a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec is required.

• Ability to work remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment while managing competing priorities and demands.
