Cybersecurity Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate client environments against NIST CSF 2.0, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, CMMC, CJIS, HIPAA, and PCI DSS standards.

• Develop secure cybersecurity, networking, and cloud solutions tailored to client business requirements.

• Configure, install, activate, and sustain security products and services.

• Investigate and implement solutions for technical challenges, including modifications to client environment designs.

• Oversee the security, network, and cloud environments that have been deployed to ensure ongoing operational efficiency.

• Conduct network administration tasks, including managing client trouble tickets and design alterations.

• Monitor security incidents and scrutinize suspicious activities.

• Collaborate with SOC Analysts to enhance SIEM correlation rules and custom detection techniques.

• Collect data, create reports, and assist clients and departments with analytical needs.

• Engage in small to medium-sized project initiatives.

• Draft and document standard operating procedures and security operations protocols.

• Work collaboratively across teams and departments to address security issues.

• Complete onboarding for Apollo's core tool stack, internal systems, and Aegis platform.

• Observe active client environments to learn about deployment patterns and support requirements.

• Independently manage scoped technical workstreams.

• Participate in peer reviews, architecture discussions, and post-incident evaluations.

• Identify and propose improvements in processes, gaps, or tools.

• Handle client-facing responsibilities without senior oversight on standard-complexity projects.

• Build cross-functional relationships with SOC, Sales Engineering, and Project Management teams.

• Deliver a well-accepted enhancement to an internal process, playbook, or technical standard.

• Assist client discussions regarding CMMC, NIST, and relevant State, Local, and Education (SLED) requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background in cybersecurity, network administration, or systems administration, with some experience in a hands-on engineering role.

• Proven track record in implementing and managing security and/or network technologies in production environments.

• Familiarity with common security tools and technologies, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, and EDR/MDR.

• Experience in scripting or automation with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple client priorities in a fast-paced managed services environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to document designs and articulate technical concepts to clients.

• Preferred: background in security engineering or architecture.

• Preferred: expertise in products from Fortinet or Sophos, with knowledge of Palo Alto and Cisco.

• Preferred: proficiency in M365, Azure, GCP, or AWS, including cloud-native security services.

• Preferred: expertise in identity and access management best practices.

• Preferred: experience with SIEM platforms such as Stellar Cyber, Splunk, LogRhythm, Elastic, or Azure Sentinel.

• Preferred: familiarity with vulnerability management and asset visibility tools like Tenable or Sevco.

• Preferred: understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and Google Workspace, including SSO and MFA configurations.

• Preferred: exposure to managed services or MSSP delivery models, including multi-tenant operations and client-facing interactions.

• Must pass a background check and obtain CJIS certification.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must not require current or future sponsorship to continue employment in the United States.

• Must be open to remote work in the United States and willing to travel up to 25%.
